R1 engine number

I have just recieved the R1 engine that I bought off eBay. The engine number is XN510E followed by a seried of drilled holes. Does this mean that the engine number is missing (yes, I know).
How hard will it be to SVA / register a BEC with this engine?

As long as you have proof of purchase and it is not stolen it can be given a number. Contact the police and ask them the details.

yours, Pete

I went into the RSPCA office the other day. It was so small you could hardly swing a cat in there.

I'm very interested in this too. If I bought a motor without any of the numbers present how can you prove that it isn't stolen?

Who gives you the new engine number? Yamaha? DVLA?

I've talked to Colin about this and he said it can also be to do with breakers sourcing cat B written off bikes that some insurance companies insist on de-numbering... Usually the frame only but some do both engine and frame.

Any help anyone?

Chris.
