Got my R1 running!!!

Fired it up for the 1st time the other night (bit too bloody loud with the MK silencer I reckon).

Thanks to Colin (Colibriman) for helpin out over the phone regarding wiring.

Just need to get a throttle cable sorted (any advice would be helpful) and then I can give it its first drive!

Oli

Well done that man

It must be a great feeling. I chickened out and bought mine finished, but I still have the urge to build one myself, hopefully within the next few years.

Cheers guys, was an awesome feeling even though the first time it fired I had slightly over fueled and almost took a mates legs out with a 2 foot flame!!

Chris, it was just a simple fuse (thought I'd checked them all but never mind - thats what you get for connecting 2 live feeds together!). Gutted bout your engine, just get a lumination ignition system - plug in and play! I'm gonna try and get back later this week to sort some more out on it so if you're around then pop over

Throttle cable - buy a Superlight Universal Throttle Cable kit from Venhill, chop it to length, solder on your nipple and away you go - job's a good 'un!

What sort of nipple goes on the throttle end and how does it fix onto the throttle lever?

Cheers,
Oli

You get several solder-on nipples with each kit. You can then choose which one will suit your needs!

The inner cable comes with a nipple already attached at one end, but I can't remember if you need to replace that one or not with another out of the kit. It's a few months since I made mine and I have a memory of a goldfish.....

Whatever, there is usually a nipple in there for all occurrences!
