Miata diff questions
I want to use a Miata differential with a sprocket but don't know how the stub axles attach; I assume there are C-clips someplace. Do the stub
axles count on the outer factory housing for retention?
If it can't be made to work I hate to spend the money buying one to discover this.

Miata = MX-5 = Eunos Roadster
Can't remember, but the above may help you get a reply.

Finish the Mini first.
DO NOT PUT ON KNOB OR BOLLOCKS!

The output shafts have a spring C-clip near the inner end. You get them out with 2 "pry bars" (mazda's words not mine) , to refit
the manual says put on a new c- clip & bash in with a soft faced mallet. Verify proper clip retention by trying to pull them out by hand.
Note with a viscous LSD the right output shaft is longer than the left output shaft.
Torsen LSD I have no information.
Cheers

Kurt,
If I understand your thinking, you wont be able to install a sprocket any larger than 5" in diameter without major modifications to the mounting
'ears' that the unit hangs from.
Here is a photo of mine.

Thanks guys. What I meant to say is I wanted to use *only* the differential, no ring, no pinion, no housing. I just wanted to know how the stub
axles mount, do they count on the diff housing in any way. I hear they do not.
