brake bleeding

Question:
Is it nescesary that the brake fluid reservoir is above the brake calipers?
It is above the master cilinder.
In my opinion it should not, but problems
with bleeding the system makes me doubt

I've seen plenty with the resevoir low down. Better to post this in the running gear section, you'll get more answers.
