New diff with reverse
It seams there is a new diff on the market that would be great for a BEC...

Engine is not mounted idealy for a mid setup, youll be getting the oiling problems the front eng boys get, might be good for 4wd though

Looks good, but what ratio is it?
Website says "GEAR RATIO: 7.9 "?

Doesn't seem to have many mounting lugs?

Yeah, but the front engined boys are used to dealing with the oiling problems. Mounting Lugs .... i assume they are cast bolt holes as i
couldn't see any either.
Mag case means it could probably be cheaper in Ali ..... bulk buy anyone?
(if the ratio changes that is!)

I've emailed them with a query on the diff ratio. I will post their response.

the response
Here's the response. He seems to indicate that the 'box has a splitter with high and low ratios? More likely is that the forward ratio
will be taller but the reverse will still be really short.
"We can set it up for on road but it will have a high and low gears and
it will run $550 USD extra. Let me know.."
Hmmm. Nice quick response from them though. And I must say at around US$1800 or so with a "road" ratio it would be lighter and cheaper
than the solution I was thinking of : Quaife reversing box, Freelander diff with Quaife ATB.
Maybe a group buy would reduce the $550 extra cost for the road ratio?

These boxes are based on a normal car box, I believe the vw box with the unneeded gears etc removed so within reason you can have almost any diff
ratio, you can also have a two speed box, with a sprint ratio and a cruise ratio
These boxes will be double the dollar amount by the time they get here, carriage, vat, import duty, etc
Cheers

53lbs is about 24kgs, which is about what a Sierra diff weighs IIRC so it would actually save you weight compared to a reverse box + Sierra diff setup
(or an electric reverse)
