05 R1 clock fault codes
Hey ho
i finally got a set of R1 clocks
i plugged them in, when i turn ignition on the fuel ligh flashes then the oil light, then after a few secs the engine warning light comes on, then in
the right hand display i get er 1, i guess thats error 1.
anyone else have this type of problem, or am i special!
are there any wires i need to connect up!?
cheers

Fuel level light will flash unless you connect it to your tank guage with a sutable resister circuit to give the right resistance range (not got mine
sorted yet). My oil level ocationally flashes (plenty of oil in); I think the switch sticks (did it tonight). Engine warning is probably the Exup.
Thje 1 indicates 1 fault I think. Check the R1 manual for how to access the diagnosticmode.

thanks for pointing me in the right direction guys.
thanks for that pic.
the fuel and oil lights should be easy to solve then.
but that error code 1 is a strange one.
the sub harness that connects to the main has one big connection, 11pins, its a 12 pin connector, so 1 missing and on the main loom that it plugs into
has 1 missing but it's in a different place on the connector.
could that be my error code issue!? its a 5VY sub loom, so should be right.
anyone got 1 they could check.
cheers.

John,
To fix the fuel light connect a 680ohm resistor from the green/white wire coming from the clocks the other end of the resistor to earth, that cured it
on mine.
As for the error code, wasn't your engine from the states? and your clock loom ordered in UK that may be your problem, they may be wired
differently.

You can download an R1 manual from here if you don't have one
http://yzf-r1forum.net/index.html
If you check the sub loom connections on the wireing diagram you can see which wires go together (from memory some change colour at the connector).
The connectors vary from year to year.
Read up on the diagnostic mode. Its the best reason for keeping the bike clocks.

Morning guys
Stu, i did think of that, but i've looked at the wiring diagram in that manual, and the connections should be a 12pin and 4 pin, this sub loom
has a 12 pin and a 6pin. the 6pin looks like it has the ecu wire but my main loom is a 12 and a 4 pin.
this sub loom is a genuin yamaha part bought via my local bike shop!
anyone that has the sub loom could you check if you have a 12pin and 4pin or 12pin and 6pin.
cheers

I had different plugs on mine. I checked which wires went to which in the diagrams and swaped them around in the connectors. Found that I could move
enough wires that I only needed one sub loom plug once I'd taken out the lighting related ones (I have a seperate chassis loom).
edit; Just had a look and all the wires connect to thier matching colour except.
12v feed - red+white (main loom) goes to brown (clock loom).
Oil level - Black+red (main loom) goes to White (clock loom)
also the black+white in the main loom 20 way goes to Black+white in the 6 way.
If you swap them around untill they match it should work. The only thing I couldn't account for was a pale green wire in the 6 way clock loom
and I never found out what its for. Suspect its the immobiliser warning light!

Thats a great help adithorp
i just popped to yamaha but there site is down so they couldn't check.
i'll go with your solution and move some wires around.
job for today
edited to say i also have a yellow/blue in the 6way which looks like the ecu wire. was that also in your 6way.
cheers again
edited again, looks like its sorted, i've got rid of the error code and the oil light, i'll do as stu suggests with the fuel light,
only thing is the engine light stays on, but i'm not able to start it, so does that stay on untill it's running? if so then all sorted

Yes, yellow+blue from 6way to same from 4way. Just keep all matching colours except those I mentioned.
I took out the indicator wires (dark green and dark brown), high beam (black+yellow) and illumination (blue). They'll go into the chassis loom
via a seperate connector.
That left me with enough terninals in the 12way to put it all the rest in that one connector.
ecu light should come on for 1.4 secs after turn on then go out. Have you cleared the fault memory? You need to access the diagnostic mode to do
that.

Erm nope i've not cleared it, as i'm not sure how.
is that something to do with earthing a wire on the ecu?
the error code has gone thou, its just the engine light stays on.
cheers
