Clutch Travel

Has anyone had any experience of 'overtravel' of the clutch actuating arm (engine) of a ZX9R.
I'm using the standard pedal with the cable attached at the same point as in the donor and the travel seems very long.
Have you all shortened the pedal or put a stopper in the pedal box to limit travel.
The last thing I want is to bugger the clutch by pulling it in too far when I've scorched that Porsche 911 turbo away from the lights! Lol
