Wadders - I think you've touched on the great north/south radio 1 divide. My theory (backed up by most people I have spoken to about it) is that
Southerners like Chris Moyles and dislike Mark and Lard and Northerners like Mark and Lard and disklike Chris Moyles. I guess it's also partly true
with Sara Cox and Jo Whiley, but don't most people find Sara Cox iritating anyway?

I've been keeping quiet on this thread up until now, as I like so much stuff, I couldn't be ar$ed listing it all. I like everything mentioned so
far, but band of the moment has to be Queens of the Stone Age. Judging by peoples tastes, I'm surprised I haven't seen System Of A Down. Top
stuff.
I had to arc up when I read David jenkins likes Horslips! I don't know anyone else who's even heard of them. Horslips album "The
Tain".....brilliant.
Cheers, Rorty.

Now hold on there, boy... I say, jus' hold on there, son!
I said "...all but a few..." - I've HEARD OF Horslips, but I ain't HEARD them - so I can't give an opinion.
But, saying that, I'll listen to most things done with respect to the audience, performed by musicians.

Counting Crows are great, but their first album (August and everything after) was the best. I'm not desperately keen on recovering the satelite or
this desert life. Hard candy is pretty good, I was listening to it this morning in my car.
Another couple of bands that I don't recall coming up is Deftones and Tool.

Thank you that man Hippy! Keep the pretender suppressed!
When it comes to Mr Manson I'm not so keen on the older stuff but Mechanical Animals primarily and then Holy Wood I think are great.
What did you think of the remix of Tainted Love?
I saw both Marilyn Manson and Metallica live at Big Day out a couple of years ago- I thought MM was a bit of a tit actually but Metallica ROCKED!
Rock On!

Marilyn's a complete tit, you're not wrong.
As for System Of A Down I saw them back in 1999 when they were one of the support acts for Black Sabbath and it has to be said they were talentless
piles of crap.
I much prefered the first of the 3 support acts... All girl Swedish band. Highlight of that set? The lead guitarist walking backwards and falling over
some stage equipment. Genius.
Mind you the bass player was nice..... (Of the Swedish band, not Geezer Butler...)
(it needed 3 other bands because they needed to acclimatise your ears for Sabbath as well as possible before they came on and deafened you with
fantasticness....)

Actually I don't mind the man himself, interviews I heard or read with him he's always come across as intelligent and sensible. He knows full well
it's all an act to get money out of dumb American kids trying to shock their parents.
I don't know if anyone's seen Gunning for Columbine the Michael Moore documentary movie that was at the cinema recently? It has an interview with MM
talking about how he was blamed for the Columbine shootings- meant to be pretty interesting.
Anyway, the thing I didn't like about the live act was what was going on on stage; the music was very cool but there is no-one in the enitre world
who looks cool when they pull the trousers down to their ankles and then waddle (I stress waddle as there's no other way to walk with tight leather
trousers round your ankles) across the stage with their dick out- it's just sad!
Anyway, was that Ozzfest where you saw Sabbath? Coz I'm pretty sure it was 1999 when I was there too. Have no idea who played (other than Pantera who
were brilliant).
Ahh, happy days!

Well I could list what i listen to, but you old rockers wont have heard of most of it.
Having said that, when I need to grind harder, cut faster and hammer more violently there's nothing like a bit of honest German-heavy-electro-metal,
so Rammstein are never too far away from the garage stereo. or:
Nirvana
Rage Against The Machine
Kyuss
Audioslave
Prodigy
Boom Boom Satellites...
For normal happy tinkering:
Radiohead
Death in Vegas
Chemical Brothers
Lamb
Archive
Ladytron
Feelix Da Housecat
REM
Beta Band
Doves...i could go on forever so i'll stop...
And when I'm in contemplative mood trying to engineer around the latest 'how the hell will that fit' problem (or I've just fu**ed something
up/injured myself and need soothing)...
Beth Gibbons
Mazzy Star
Goldfrapp
Portishead
Air
Dot Allison...
OK that'll do. Oh and if I'm in the garage late enough - John Peel on Radio 1. All very nice.
