BEC Propshaft (w/ TRT) 1 or 2 Piece (and TRT's in both?)
I'm having a new prop made for my R1 Fury.
The existing one is non-TRT but I fancy a TRT one as that what I had in my Blackbird Fury and I prefer it.
I've given my old prop to JWE to copy the dims from.
They suggested I could go for a one piece but it would need to be at least 3". I'm not that keen on this, and this post seems to suggest
that it will vibrate itself to death:

So unless I can be convinced otherwise its looking like a 2 piece prop (with 3 UJ's and a centre bearing - the same as I have now).
Sooo next question is do I want or need TRT sections in both pieces of the prop or just the front or rear section?
What are the pro's and con's? Greater isolation vs extra weight?
From reading posts IIRC most people just have a TRT in one section of a 2 piece prop on a front engine BEC.
(Its an IRS setup BTW)

I have 2 piece prop with TRT in rear section only. Front section has the slider arrangement and I wouldn't have thought it was long enough for
TRT aswell. I can't really see that TRT would be required on both halves.

Same as Stuart, two piece prop with rear section incorporating the TRT.

I have 2 piece prop with TRT in the front section and slider in the rear.
This was to allow me to retro fit an electric reverse on the diff nose at a later date without having to re position the centre bearing mount.

Jim,
Interesting idea...
How long did you make the slider?

The slider was standard Bailey Morris prop. It has approx 25mm of adjustment so easily capable of having a 6mm ring gear inserted.

The front slider on my old prop had about 40mm of adjustment IIRC.
The only bummer if I go this route is that I now need to wedge myself back under the car and accurately measure the distance from the centre bearing
mount to the sprocket adaptor flange. Whereas before it didn't matter as I had a slider in there.
Are you seriously considering a leccy reverse then?
