R1 02 03 oil light

I have my engine running but im abit nerviouse about the oil situation. The oil light doesnt go off on the dash and the cam cover is noisy thick could indicate no oil getting through? any suggestions

I have slightly over filled the oil to see if that made a difference.

Could it be an issue with the way i fitted a new filter?

The oil light on the R1 clocks refers to oil level only. Not pressure. Apparently they are quite prone to sticking/failure.

Cam cover shouldnt be noisy. But how noisy / what kind of noise.

When you say the way you fitted the filter. I don't really think there is a wrong way (unless it is not sealing). What is the pressure like?

Did you crank the motor over plenty (ideally with the plugs out) after replacing the filter.

Cheers

Jim

Hi,

I dont know what the oil pressure is like as i dont have a gauge. I did crank the engine after changing the filter.

The noise coming from the cover is like a loud ticking sound. Im just worried i could be harming the engine as i dont know how to tell if the oild is flowing proply

Turn it over/start it then switch off and remove the cover to look if there's oil in there...or fit a guage.

Hi Paul, How high is your oil on the glass sight? Ours is a tad over 3/4. First start ours drained all the oil and light came on so we topped it up and hasnt come on since. Have you double checked the wiring or maybe its just a faulty sensor. As a back up we ordered an oil pressure sensor(10bar) that i taped into the oil cooler bolt which might be worth doing.
