Racetec oil pressure gauge - illumination?
Hi,
We have a Racetech oil pressure gauge (52mm) that we have just fitted, but we don't see any electrical terminals on them for the illumination.
Is it possible that these are not illuminated? All it has on the bottom is the oil feed (large thread), two bolts for mounting (with the U shaped
bracket) and three tiny screws that we did not dare to touch, I think these keep the whole unit together...
Anyone with the same gauges? Can you please help?
Thanks!
Gergely

iirc there are two types of racetech gauges, the illuminated and non-illuminated kind, so it's posible you have one with no bulb fittings....

ggrrr.... I have ractech speedo and although illuminated, the bulbe does not appearto be replaceable, well at least it is not in a removeable bulb
holder - bad design IMO.

I have one.. they sell them with or without lumination.
My plan is to drill a hole in the casing and use a bulb holder off a bike cluster I have lying around. Its the holder in a rubber bush thing with
wiring??

If it's the illuminated type then the bulb holder pushes into the back. It's pretty obvious so I quess yours isn't illuminated if
you haven't found it.

is it just me that thinks that is just stupid.
why not make one type of case, those who do not need a lamp do not wire it up or remove it and fit blanking grommet.
or is ther something sinister going on I am not aware of?

I totally agree. Why would you not want it illuminated anyway.
I also think it is stupid that you can't get the bulb out. I wanted to change the colour and have the gauges blue the same as my bike clocks but
couldn't get the bulb out. Either they are in there very tight or they do not come out.

Thanks all!
I also thought it was stupid to manufacture a car gauge with no illumination...
All this nonsense about sharp edges and all, and then you have gauges that you can not see at night...
Oh well...
I figure I will not go on track with the car at night, and the oil pressure will be most important there, so there...
Thanks!

The bulb holder just pulls out of mine. Its just a tight fit. I put a blue bulb (well painted it blue with glass paint) in mine to match the R1
clocks.

Hi
The reason that they do the ones with no hole for a bulb in is economics. The racetech gauges ( and many other brands ) are made just up the road from
here by a company a friend works for. The gauges are built to as low and cheap a spec as possible. And believe it or not putting that hole in the back
and supplying the fittings even a grommet costs money. Its also the reason why they are so inaccurate after a bit of use. Check them on a regular
basis for accuracy. They usually read low.
Cheers Matt
