Power commander, fuel pressure and Hayabusa's!

Guys,
As you may be aware I have my SVA a week today. Emmisions is a worry to me due to reading that the Hayabusa engine is a pita to get through. I have a PC III fitted and hopefully Ill have a cat, (if it arrives in time!). So my question is this:-

What settings do I adjust on the PC III to bring emissions down?

I understand it dosent matter if the car is undrivable, ie fuel pressure can be cranked down. So as long as the engine is running at the required RPM and they get a reading then all is good!

Bottom line is Im looking for pointers on fuel pressure and PC III settings

If its broke, fix it. If it aint broke, take it apart and find out how it works!

Anyone know what the test RPM is??

Anyone got an SVA map? Wont this be specific to the car though? Depending on exhaust design for one thing???

Hi Ian -

I'm sure if you ask Gary at Dax he can get you a map. I really don't think the exhaust has much impact at the revs that the emissions are checked at - its checked at idle and 'fast idle' which is between 2500 and 3000rpm. The air injection and the cat should take care of the CO and unburnt fuel provided that the cat is hot enough (needs to be at 450C to start working).

From personel experiance the tested rpm is what ever the SVA man says it is. martin at nottingham ramped mine up to 4k (which was on a 'zero' part of the map) and she passed fine

PAIRS has been removed Nick...

Anyone got a map for a Busa thats known to get through SVA? At least that'll be a starting point!

I think it might be a bit tricky to get through through the HC test without the PAIRS. At the low revs that the emissions test is done at you are going to get a lot of unburnt fuel in the exhaust and this is exactly what air injection is designed to clean up. A cat on its own can't deal with unburnt fuel - it has to have the extra air there to burn it off. Any chance of bolting it back on?

I checked this out with Marc at MNR, he gets 'Busas through emissions with Power Commanders and no PAIRS. I've removed mine and blanked the PAIRS ports on the head. Not finished yet though so not done emissions test yet.

I cant see that not having the PAIRS vlave would be a problem. It must just be a case of sorting out the right map in the PC III.

Would Marc be likely to share the PC map he has?? Seems a little cheeky to ask as Ive not built an MNR!!!!!
