Old ZX10 cam question

While checking my valve clearances today I noticed my inlet camshaft was rather pitted,I've now removed both cams and checked with a micrometer, both my cams are below the sevice limit(very worn) my exhaust being worst of the two.

Anyway I'm wondering if I could use a pair of ZZR1100 cams to replace my orginal zx10 items as the ZZR has greater lift or can someone reccomend a place where I can buy a pair of cams

Just a thought !!!

A lot of ZZr bits fit the ZX 10 but don't know if camshafts are swappable.
Someone on here must have some cams knocking about, surely???

I no longer run Furore Products or Furore Cars Ltd, but would still highly recommend them for Acewell dashes, projector headlights, dominator headlights, indicators, mirrors etc, best prices in the UK! Take a look at http://www.furoreproducts.co.uk/ or find more parts on Ebay, user names furoreltd & furoreproducts, discounts available for LCB users.
Don't forget Stainless Steel Braided brake hoses, made to your exact requirements in any of around 16 colours. http://shop.ebay.co.uk/furoreproducts/m.html?_dmd=1&_ipg=50&_sop=12&_rdc=1

Hi Craig

I've got a spare (old) set of ZZR cams in the pile of engine bits out the back. If they are compatible let me know and I'll dig them out for you.

Hi Mike,

Thanks for that offer mate,I've been searching the web to see if they are compatible but so far have turned up nothing,I've also checked my haynes manual but it just tells me the the ZZR has more lift,I did however notice the ZZR head is different to my ZX10 head so I'll continue with the search !!

I've got a box of old zx10 cams out in the hut, don't know if they are serviceable or not. Might even have a pair of ZZR1100 cams in a head with a couple of bent valves......

I quite fancy putting cams in with a little bit higher lift thats why I intially thought of the ZZR as it has slighty more lift

If I could find out if I could get away with fitting the ZZR head that would be ideal as the valves are bigger too !! (At this rate I would be better dropping a complete ZZR unit in lol)

Thanks for all the replys guys,

I have now found out that ZZR cams will not fit a ZX10 a model,.
It turns out that the Kawasaki "A" model is of poorer spec due to it's cylinder head set up.

It is also not possible to swap the head from ZZR onto an "A" model due to a different block set up although engine casings and engine mountings are the same,Howevere on the ZX10 b models the ZZR parts are interchangable(cams, head etc)

Thanks for the offers anyway.

Hi Guys,

Hoping someone can shed some light on this for me.

I have just got 2 fairly new cams for my motor from a guy that breaks bikes locally,Anyway now I've got them home I have noticed the part numbers do not match my orginal cams and I also can't see them on Kawasaki parts either,Also my new cams have adjustable sprokets(similar to verniers) Again my orginal cams had fixed sprokets !!

I'm wondering if anyone has the cam part number to hand. Here is the number of my new cams KCF1001.

Cheers Craig
