DEPENDS HOW FRIENDLY THE SVA MAN IS
i had mine uploaded for the drive there and back as the mapped area of the rpm should be only from idle to 3-3500rpm and you are in that range for a very short time. eddbaz was allowed to upload and adjust the map at the sva centre

If you can't meet the SVA limits with your normal running map then your normal running map needs attention! At idle and fast idle there is no benefit in having a map that wouldn't pass SVA.

You'd normally set it up and leave it loaded. However it might need tweeking during the test (if the tester is feeling generous) if it turns out to be out a bit.

The test is done at idle and fast idle (2500-3000rpm). The tricky bit is holding the fast ide steady. Any variation on the throttle tends to throw the readings out.

You'll be lucky if you have time to set it on the way to the test as they are normally booked to start first thing in the morning.

How long would it take you to upload a map when you are outside the test centre if its running very lean? I assume you would take the laptop anyway to do any adjustments if Mr SVA is feeling generous. I know i got to SVA 45 mins early myself so had plenty of time to check around the car for a final time
