Another Power Commander Q!
without going to the expense of buying a power commander, is there a company (local to surrey) who will set up the ECU etc on the non stock exhaust I
have for my ZX10? Am i likely to be losing significant power by not using a power commander? This side of things is new to me, i simply put in the
motor, bolted on a 7" diameter simpsons exhaust and hoped for the best - i take it that's not the way to go then...?

The advantage of the power commander is switching Maps.
The one for sva/mot emissions is not necessarily going to be good for your engine long term, so if you do it your way you will have to re-tune twice
and then everytime the mot comes around.

The standard ECU is not programmable (as far as I'm aware anyway) that is why you need a power commander.

The standard ECU is actually programmable and quite easy to do if you are into ECU hacking or know someone who is. For most of us though, the Power
Commander is the easier alternative option.
The standard ECU contains all the optimum settings for the engine to run in a bike coupled with a stock air filter and stock exhaust system. When you
take the engine out of the bike and put it in a car, you alter the way the engine breathes (different exhaust configuration, silencer and air filters
etc) and therefore need to alter the fuelling accordingly. The Power Commander allows you to do this with a fuel injected engine.
You may not necessarily be losing power but the PC allows you to adjust fuel settings throughout the whole rev range to optimise performance which
will ultimately increase the longevity of your engine.
The cost of a Power Commander and custom setup on a rolling road is a small price to pay compared to a new engine IMO.
