Flat-Slide Carbs

Don't know much about them...

Are they significantly better than 'normal' carbs?
Are they anywhere near as good as an EFI set-up?
Pro's / Con's?

My own understanding is that for outright wide open throttle power, they are very good as the throttle is unrestricted.
I also understand that there can be part throttle isues.

Can they be as good as injection ?

They're still carbs, so full of compromises.
Would you rather 5 extra horses at the top end and holes all over the mid range or would you prefer to have a solid mid range and sacrifice the topm end.

I'm saying this, but if my favourite vendor of motorcylce bits were to offer me a set right now, I would be ripping his arm off.

Bike carbs are a good half way house between Webbers/Dell'ortos and EFI. Being carbs they will always be a compromise, but a better one than "normal" carbs are. EFI will, if set up correctly, give better power and fuel economy, but generally at a higher cost. And it never sounds quite the same either.
