MotaLeira SVA Ready!

Apart from drilling the bias bar, the MotaLeira is ready for it's SVA.
Also even because of sva issues, I've removed the bubble screens because I don't like the distortion through them.
Plenty of jobs to do after it passes like plastic wrapping the side panels and mounting the sat nav.

Anyone got a trailor and some land?

Surprisingly, I can't see them.

Nice! I like the name and reflection sticker.

Couple of points...
Side repeaters; I know you've put extra ones on as well as the mirror ones but you can't see them from the camera position in picture 3 and I think thats within the visability arc.
Bonnet pannel fixings; Are they radiused enough?
Engine cover; Are the wires thick enough for the openings in the mesh? I'm sure there's something in the book about it but can't remember the details.

Re the repeaters, I have a spare set of stickes that I will probably put on.
The mesh is fine as it passed on my previous car and it is correct because it is what Michael at Mitcham sva told me to use.
I'm trying to souce some different allen key dzus for the front panel. If not, I'll stick a cap on them.

Just failed at Southampton due to having indicators in the mirrors. Because they arnt 'wrap arounds', ie you can only see them from the front, they count as front indicators. You are only allowed one set of fronts and even though I pulled the connections under the dash I was still failed because and I quote, '9.2/ optional front indicators fitted to miriors fitted in addition to the maximum number fitted. Optional front indicators not permanently disconnected'

This sentence didnt make much sense to me so I rang and asked for clarification, hence I was told about the wrap around feature.

Basically another SVA hoop jump as I cant see what difference it makes that you can see them from the side or not, ie modern production vehicle's 'wrap round' side repeaters can still be seen very clearly from the front so in effect they have a pair of indicators per side which is in contravention to SVA rules.

Think Ive rambled a bit but hopefully you get the idea!

If its broke, fix it. If it aint broke, take it apart and find out how it works!

Not necesserily!

I removed the bulbs, and then masked up the lenses with black insulating tape. Also disconnected the plugs under the dash and taped em back out of the way.

This 'should' do the trick!

I have taped the mirrors up but the stick on led repeaters seem a bit dull.
I need to source some decent ones.....

Hi, car looks great.

Just one note from me.

I have the same headlights as you (Got them from Russ) Very good they are too with regard to beam pattern, but one of the minor fail points on my GT-1 was that the radius on the front of the chrome surround by the lens is too sharp.

I am making up some radiused covers to glue on for re-test.

Be a shame to fail on that one as it is difficult to fix during the test.

Good luck and enjoy the day. The guys are really very helpful.

Mike

I know of the front light edge problem, Russ told me about Jame's sva.
I've sourced the indicators from cbs and I plan on putting them on one of the rails

I keep on finding stuff to do!
At least I have 3 weeks to sort it.
James I superglued the o rings on (looks pants, but that is what they want). I've also trimmed around my air box inlets. The mirror indicators are taped up and disconnected.
I'm waiting for replacement indicators from cbs and allen key pins for the bonnet.

More Pre-sva photos.
Side repeaters arrived today and I put some silicon hose on the jubilee clips holding the rear mesh on. There will be caps going on the headlight adjusters.

They are bound to find something I've missed.

The jubilee is in clear silicon but the flash has wiped it out!
