Thinking of fitting a bike engine, any thoughts ?
I still have not got round to fitting the Alfa V6 engine I have for my car, and can not see me getting round to it if I'm honest cost its a bit
of a one off.
V6 alfa engine front wheel drive, mated to ford tpe 9 gearbox.
I do not think I will get round to doing all the bits I need to to get get the thing going properly, so am reverting to first thoughts when i got the
car.
Bike engine !!!!!!!!!
Things I would like to know tho'
I can deal with no reverse, but is this a real problem to anyone else? I assume I do not need a reverse for SVA?
Secondly, cat converter, I know newer bikes have them, but as my car has not been sva'd, whats the best way of getting round this ?
Next and biggest question, which engine?
The car is an autotune Gemini, so will be a little heaveir that the seven, due to the fully covered body, but not much.
I do not want to spend a fortune on a n engine, and would like to get bsomething that is fairly tried and tested, so I can just buy bits for it and
not have to fabricate stuff myself. (this is why I am not going to fit the alfa now)
So what do you think ?

Shame, Alfa would have been nice.
For the BEC route you WILL need a reverse now for IVA
You will need a Cat unless you use a Pre 95 engine
In line with the weight, one of the bigger engines will be better, Busa, ZX12 for instance, but R1 also possible.
But none are going to drop straight in without some fabrication to your existing vehicle...
I'm sure others will add to this.....

That's a shame, I was looking forward to seeing that car go with the Alfa motor in.
What is left to do?
Cheers

go sit in the corner and think about what you have done.
you should be able to get the v6 to bolt up to an alfa 75 box to save you the hastle of the type 9.
dont forget virtually all the old alfa's were rwd many of them v6.

The engine is already fitted to the type 9 and is hanging over the car as we speak.
I just don't think I would have time to actually finish it.
I might be being a little hasty, but the whole car has now been sat for a three years without much being done.
Well, I not going to get rid of Alfa yet, wqas just giving it some serious thought.

pre 1995 fireblade engine means easy emissions test, and lots of bolt on goodies/help as its tried and tested.
They go for buttons too, one was on here the other day for £300 with everything.
you will need to sort a reverse though

tbh, I might aswell have an unfinished alfa V6 engined kitcar in the garage, instead of an unfinished bike engined kitcar in the garage.
So the question is ?
Which would be be easier to leave unfinished ?
I think the Alfa
