bec prop centre bearing
ive really been having problems mounting my centre bearing bracket on my prop.
it was originally a sierra prop but ive just installed a baily morris trt and im still having problems the the centre bearing.
because the mount is not parallel to the tunnel (like this: \ | / ) i have made up a wedge to put between the tunnel and the prop but as soon as it
gets tight it starts to twist the bearing slightly (maybe a few degree's) and i get problems with it grinding etc.
any ideas or suggestions on how to get this sorted once and for all? the cars been on the road over a month and ive hardly driven it because of
this!
the other thing is just how much vibration / noise should i expect to get from my prop in a bec? im not expecting it to be silent & vibration free
but im sure it shouldn't be this bad!
thanks

Dan, maybe a pic might help everyone see your bearing mount and understand the angle that you have.
I mounted mine with probably about a 8-10 degree angle on the prop and it was fine. There was no real vibration to speak of although it wasn't a
TRT prop.

I had to put a wedge under my centre bearing.I also put one on the underside of the plate to keep the bolt straight when it is done up. Maybe this is
your problem and the bolt is trying to pull up vertical.

my centre bearing from the propshaft clinic was mounted in a rubber housing, so it didnt matter if i bolted it a bit wonky. Also meant that any engine
movement could be taken up but the rear slider (live axled car).

Your prop should be absolutely silent and vibration free!
If it's anything different don't drive it, there is no good reason why it should be either!
