R1 Airbox Mounted sensor

Hi, Some of you may know im having emissions problems. Bike engine is standard other than usual MNR headers 4-1 with universal cat, pipercross sausage filter and a suzuki airbox mounted sensor as it wasnt sold with one and Malc thought it would do. im now wondering if this sensor could be part or all of the problem so does anyone know what it controls or where to get a cheap one so i can narrow down the issue?
Cheers
Adam

Do you have an image of the sensor?

It sounds like it could be the inlet air temperature sensor which fits into the air box, and will tell the ECU how warm the air coming into the engine is.

The ECU will then compensate the air and fuel tables accordingly.

I'm almost certain this is what it does, and it will give totally different resistance values to the Suzuki one.

If you can be sure this is the inlet temp sensor, you will almost certainly need to get hold of an R1 model instead.

Having just looked at your build diary that's definitely the air temperature sensor and I would get hold of the R1 sensor instead.

Looking at the R1 sensor, it has the following profile.

Temp - Resistance
0c = 6Kohms
80c = 0.34 Kohms

I could not find the resistance table for a Suzuki sensor, but you can bet your life it will be different.

Omega0864 - u2u sent - thanks

I always knew it was a bit of a gamble but Malc the man in the know on most things BEC said it would be as good as. I couldnt find one anywhere at the time so sounded like the best thing to do but im running out of ideas on what else it could be thats causing my emissions to be quite off.

What's your setup? Are you using the standard ECU?

Hi, its running stock ecu with power commander 3 running the fueling. PC3 is definitely working as i've halved emissions but any further and emissions drop right off and thats as far as i got untill my mates exhaust probe was no more. Its just had a new plugs and an oil change to remove the possibility of fuel in the oil and over filled. As mentioned above my only other thoughts are the universal ebay cat is crap, the sensors in the wrong parameters or the engine itself has a problem.
cheers
Adam
