R1 5VY Shift Light

Ran my car yesterday for the first time (fffffantastic!!) anyway it may have been the excitement of the day, so much going on, it all been new to me etc but I never noticed the shift light. The clock is mounted in the centre of the dash (probably a mistake in hindsight) so not in my direct line of site, it may be different once I get a little more used to the car but I could do with adding another light as it gets through them gears pretty damn quick.

Any easy options for adding another light to a feed from the light on the clocks?

I've had a google but the options I've found so far are far from locost anyone got any suggestions?

Johneturbo, thats just about what was happening yesterday

Davey D, is this something you have done? This is the only way I can see it can be linked but as the clocks don't come cheap I'm a bit cautious of doing this.

Don't know if you can run another light from the dash, but...

Have you checked the shift light set up. You can change when the light comes on and off and its brightness. Have a look in the Yamaha manual.

Good lad, so was i today lost a bit of oil out the breather

i think from memory ignition off and hold down the top button for a few sec, then ignition back on.
that lets you adjust the brighness and when it comes on, in 500rpm increments

i needed to change the rev setting on the light but forgot to take the manual with me to harewood , cars not stored here, i'll be paying it a visit tomorrow so i'll have a look at the brightness when i change the limit. i'll give it a bit more chance before i have the back off it.

re oil i only did 4 runs up the hill so not so much mileage, i never noiced it breathing but i'll have a look in the catch tank and report back.
