ZX14 vs Busa vs Busa turbo.

My latest plan is to build a Sylva Spectre and IVA it. It is basically a Riot with a body.
These have been made with busa's already though they are not on the road.
They are really light as they have no prop shaft, minimilistic diff and are tiny.
They are chain driven with the engines transverse.
I was just wondering what engine would be good.
My thoughts are that the ZX14 can be got new and is small and torqey. The K8 seems a good option but may be a bit bigger and heavier (I don't know). And as some of you know I have a busa turbo in the garage, but am nervous that it may be too powerful and ruin the car.
I am also a fan of simple and cheap.

Any thoughts would be taken on board!

Cheers

Ed

I think it would be a traversty of immense proportions not to use what so many would give a right arm for!

I also think that you would be right to suspect that it may be too much for the car you are talking about.

I also think that the kind of power the Busa Turbo would be too much for a drive chain in a car (I am basing that on no real facts by the way, just seems like a lot to ask of a chain)

If you are truly building a light car, then the amount of Hp that you put into it, becomes less of an imperitive factor. I think that a NA bike engine, but a powerful/"torquey" one would be a better bet. Maybe one that is a lighter engine than the two mentioned above?

All the best...

Steve

I have also thought of building a Riot now the thoughts are a Spectre, the one problem I see is getting the heat away from the engine compartment. On the Riot the Cat was between the engine and offside rear wheel, this gave off an imense amount of heat that had to be expelled from the engine compartment which is relatively open. Now on the otherhand the rear of the Spectre is totlay enclosed , could the Cat be placed on the outside like "7" type cars ?

Mike,
I haven't got that far yet, but I would guess that the exhaust runs transversally across the back of the car which should now be wide enough to take both in series, or certainly a cat combined in the back box?
Not sure what the bottom of the car is like, but may be able to get some air that way?
By the time I build, I hope there's a few more cars finished.
