Broke my bloody gear linkage today!!!

Hello all, today went for a spirited drive and whilst giving it some beans along some country roads the gear linkage felt a little loose..............then it went really sloppy and did sod all!

Luckily I was in second gear so could get the car back home, so got back and stripped it down and this is what has happened:

The attachment for the pivot has come away at the welds!

Still, at least it means I will have to fit the paddle shift a bit sooner than I planned

Hee, hee, on my first car (FWD) the bottom engine mount was shot and the gear lever used to jump in your hand when you eased off the accelerator. One day (I'd only had the car a couple of weeks) the linkage snapped, the end dropped onto the road and the whole gear lever spun 180 degrees and slammed forward out of my hand! I managed to get it home in the one gear, welded it back together, got another engine mount from the scrappy and it lasted me 'til I got rid of the car.
