R1 5PW RPM signal

Hi all,

I can't seem to get the revs to read right on my digidash it seems to reading way over. Does anyone know what colour the rpm signal wire is from the ECU?

Have you got the pulses/cycle set correctly on the digidash?

yep. spoke to ETB and confirmed that bit. I think the rpm wire is going to the wrong area. Apparently R1 5p ecu's don't have a tacho output? So i need to tap into one of the coils. trouble is i don't know what colour wire is -ve!

The red/black wire to each coil is the +ve supply & the orange or grey wires depending on which coil you connect to are from the ecu, connect to one of the orange or grey wires for tacho.

The rpm wire is yel/blk or yel/blue, can't remember which at the moment and not near my wiring diagram. However, it also carries fault signals so can't be used.

Some people recommend using an injector wire but that didn't really work for me and produced a very lumpy tacho.

I've recently plugged in to the coil -ve but I haven't checked it yet as I was working on something else.

cool thanks guys. I've tapped the wire but now have another problem. If i leave the coil unplugged i get a readout on the dash no problem. If i plug the coil in i get a signal for about a second then nothing?

Any ideas??

i had mine originally stuffed into coil pack 2. was a very noisey feed. when wiring in my GI i tapped into injector 1 under advise from Z cars - works great!
