Cheapo Speedo and gear indicator R1?

Have just bought an ex RGB race car with a R1 engine.
Having done a track day in it I would like to fit a Speedo, and ideally a gear indicator.
I know MNR do a Digidash for £400 but having had one on my old MNR I found the gear indicator (calculation based) to rarely be correct! Though I guess that could have been the fault of the installation. Are they usually accurate?

Or can anyone say if it is better to just buy a speedo and suggest one??

And the best gear indicator to work on an R1 injected?? (ie does it have any sensors already in place? or if I have to fit one is it complicated?)

I know thats a bit rambling but any help appreciated.

Cheers
Ed

I have a digidash 2 fitted in my VortX & its absoloutely spot on, never indicates a wrong gear.

Maybe the issues you had previously were due to the ratios incorrectly programmed into it?

I programmed it as per the Haynes ratios for the engine, but as I said it never really worked well.
That said a few people with digidashes have said theirs work well.
And have just looked into other indicators, and they seem to work the same way anyway!
So does anyone know if there is a gear indicator sensor on the injected R1's?

There is no gear indicator sensor on the R1's. You will have to use the usual type devices which calculates a ratio of speed vs rpm
