BEC - Which Engine ?

In the not too distant future I will be buying one of the following cars...

MK Midi
Mk Indy

My choice would be the Midi as I like the weight over the back.

The demonstrator has the ZX12 engine, reasonably easy to get hold of and slightly lower price compared to a hayabusa .

However I want to turbocharge it, and most of the "kits" on the market are for the Busa.

Anyone here done a ZX12?, Or can I be pointed at some threads please with home grown turbo installations on bike engines.

thanks

Ivan

Holeshot can do you upto a 300ish bhp turbo kit for the ZX12. TBH though I'd drive it first if I were you, it'll be plenty fast enough for most.

^^^^ wot he said.

You'll have enough go for track and road without a turbo.
Plus... more reliability.

I went for the R1 and love it

I was swayed toward the more torquier ZX & Busa engine, I could do with a drive of a few different types before I commit.

R1 prices are also easier on the pocket.

I am still reading as much as I can on the subject, definately want bike engine (noisy & light).

I went out in the Midi demonstrator on friday afternoon, get over to maltby and have a go, it's insanely quick as it is, think it would scare me to death with a turbo on !!

Ivan

Come along to the NE7ER's monthly meeting at the Church Mouse in Chester-le-Street.

We meet there about 7pm onwards on the last Wednesday of the month, so this month it will be next week on the 29th.

If the weather is good we usually have a dozen or so cars there.

Not much in the way of BEC's though, usually just me and very occasionally a ZX9R powered car.

Personally I'd be starting off with the ZX12, and getting it road legal, then upgrading to a turbo.

Hope you go for the Midi, as when I saw it at Stoneleigh it looked really nice.

Cheers

Mike

Thanks for that Mike,

Will make a note of the venue for future reference.

Almost definately set on a Midi ZX12, still need to see it and make my decision. But pics at the moment are fairly scant, seeing as theres only one to look at.

I have family in Texas , so Gucci parts are easy to get hold of and shipped to me free , taking advantage of the dollar etc...hence the turbo interest.

I have dabbled quite a bit with my Saab Turbo, hence Im turbo addicted,

I love them....
