ZZR1400 - Gearing over GSXR1300
Hopefully, someone out there can give me an idea of ZZR1400 overall gearing.
I'm currently running GSXR's 750-1300 in a 7 (a few people here will know how competitive these engines are if they've met me on the
ASWMC sprint circuits). (www.aswmc.org.uk/sprint.htm). Looking to relieve the winter boredom, season finishes at Combe in October, so some time.
Sooo........
What's the story with the ZZR1400? I've heard they're great, but can anyone give me an idea of final gearing? I'm running
22" slicks on the rear, 3.21 Freeloader diff. With the GSXR1300 I can get to the limiter at Colerne, Combe and (of course) Goodwood.... is the
ZZR1400 any better with it's final drive??

A 2007 ZZR1400 on 22" dia slicks with a 3.21 final drive will give 140 mph in 6th at 11000rpm.
A 2007 Busa on 22" dia slicks with a 3.21 final drive will give 134 mph at 10900 revs.
However you would have to fit a speedo healer or similar to overcome the ZZR's speed limiter in 6th gear.

Thanks for the gearing info, I've tried a while to find the definitive primary and final ratios on the ZZR, it hasn't been productive. I
have the GSXR1300 though, by virtue of the excellent Suzuki manual.
I have plenty of workarounds running on the various GSXR's, so pretty much aware of the various requirements. My GSXR1300 runs the standard ECU
with the Geartronics TRE/5th gear workaround, the 1000's and 750's are just limited on ignition and fuelling in the lower gears, no speed
limit.
MoTeC will of course, solve all issues, but it isn't Locost(!). Neither is motorsport...

Comes out in the ZZR's favour, given the imposed drivetrain limitations.
Stock Busa (let's not get into alternative gear clusters), gives me 1.596 Primary, 1.043 Top.
Doing the math, the ZZR offers me another 5-6% on the top end (prop rpm). Assumptions that the ZZR will pull out the same rpm limit, and have the
power to pull through the aero disaster that is a 7, and the Kwacker is looking a good experiment.
Current Mistral GSXR1000 will be out of the 7 after the last event (mid-October) to jump in something else, so I need to have my mind made up around
end.
No doubt there's are guys in Yorkshire and near Ipswich that have a ZZR1400 or 3 sitting around, all ready for me to plonk in in the dark
months.
