I used gold as fluke say the race ones go coil bound? I figure the race ones must be the longer black ones?

Unfortunately, Fluke are out of date with their information. Around 5/6 years ago Barnett did supply race springs that became coil bound. However this
was corrected and the longer (black) race springs are the ones that you should use, particularly for a BEC where more strain is put on the clutch.
Always treat advice from non-BEC experts with a pinch of salt. Andy at AB is normally spot on with his advice

Thats what I did with my STM Phoenix, not a whiff of clutch slip even with full bore race starts

I put the black race ones in mine.
No issues with them going coil bound and definately no clutch slip

Sorry to bring back an old thread but how would you all rate the clutch feel / weight after doing the Barnett conversion with black springs.
Mine feels quite a lot heavier but still a lot nicer than when I doubled up on the diaphragm springs.
I've not driven it yet (too dark wet and cold when I just finished)!
Should there be a tiny bit of free play on the cable - i.e. not under tension with no pressure on the clutch pedal?
