Hesitant fireblade
Here goes with the problem Car (MK Indy 919 Fireblade) was running fine. Then the rectifier started smoking, got really hot, so replaced it and the
battery. Since then havent used it for a while. So went for drive over Christmas and it was hesitant when giving it some, runs fine low down. Today :
Changed plugs, checked earths, took air box off as I had changed air filter as well. Cant find any problems and still wont go properly.
So what else should I check could the rectifier done some other damage?

did you drain the carbs? They could have gummed up if stored for a long time?

It wasnt left that long only 3-4 weeks at most so dont think carbs are problem. It seems to be too much of a coincedence that its started running
poorly after rectifier burn out.
I dont know what other damage the rectifier could have caused?

I believe (from reading, not personal experience) that your symptom can be caused by a faulty rectifier, is your replacement known good?

You need to discount the Reg/Rec asap really as it could easily be the carbs that are dirty...

AIR BOX / AIR FILTER
So this evening in the cold and wind!! I removed the air box, changed the filter back to original, checked all the rubber fixings to the carb,
resecured the box together, ensured it was all tight and hey presto it flies again. Now to work backwards and find what was wrong Thanks to all for
the suggestions Now I can continue with all the other mods needed for summer trackdays!!!!

Hi Bowood,
your problem would suggest that the new filter was either not sealing or flowed significantly more air than the original. this would mean that with
the CV carbs as fitted to the blade, the depression on the carb side of the filter was not enough to raise the slides. the consequence is that it will
idle perfectly but will bog down when applying the throttle under load. opening the throttle even more causes the carbs to suck more air but
insufficient fuel.
by the way, it was me who balanced and set your carbs up when your car was at Mikes house.
