R1 fuel regulator problem

Hi all,
I'm nearing the end of my R1 mini build. All is going to plan ( in a fashion) but when I tried to start it, discovered the fuel pressure regulator woulded allow fuel to pass
The engine did run about 6 months ago when I first installed it but now I have this problem.
I've had the regulator off and tried to blow compressed air (approx. 50psi) through it, but no joy.
Unsure how to check the operation of the vacuum pipe attached to the regulator, or am I being thick!
Need help, I'm so close to finishing.

the way I know to do it you get a pressure gauge on the fuel inlet and a vaccuum gauge on the negative pressure hose from the regulator then start the engine, the fuel pressure should be 40.4 psi, so seeing as youve blown air through it at 50 it sounds like its buggered.
