Bike generator (charging circuit)

ive just got another engine (dont ask) and ive been swapping the good bits over from the old one but i have come to the generator (alternator) and ive hit a problem. On my old engine the plug melted (common problem on ZX12's) so i just crimped the wires, but now ive come to swap it over for the other engines genny and its a different size. i have 2 options:
1, cut the cables and recrimp the new ones to my rectifier but does it matter which wire goes where? as its ac power if i get it the wrong way round (3 wires all same colour) will it work?
2, try and remove the rotating magnet off the end of the crank so i can carry on using my old genny and rectifier loom/wiring crimps (as i know it works)?

if the crank end is the same and i can get the magnet disc off then good but i dont know if they are compatible (b1h engine vs b2h).

Help please.

Sorry about my spelling, im an engineer and only work in numbers.

if you look here
http://www.cornwallkawasaki.co.uk/shop/shop.php?cmd=showdiagram&id=8442

item 21060 is on the end of the crank so rotates, item 21003 is fitted into an end casting. They are paired up and different sizes on the 2 engines, but the casting will bolt onto either engine. tips?
