Busa Exhaust

Ive no idea what to do with regards to my exhaust, as i know nothing about bike engines.

will a 2008 engine take a pre 2008 manifold?

What are my options on where to buy, I know MK make one (does anyone know the price?), but other than that im pretty stuck?

from my previous car its my understanding that exhaust design (in particular manifold design), is fundemental to getting the power/torque correct.

do i want 4-1 or 4-2-1 ?

2", 2.5" or 3"?

approx prices and suppliers would be very helpful

Thanks

I got AAS in Newcastle to make mine.

Very nice it is too, 4-2-1 bespoke (as no-one made an off the shelf ZZR one) for around £300 notes.

I wish people would not post opinions about stuff they know little about.....

Back on topic. If you know little about bike exhausts then do a little research on what the aftermarket exhaust people supply (akrapovic, yoshimura, arrow) etc and see what they do, also check out radical exhausts and see what they do etc.. You can then go with a spec to a fabricator and get your exhaust made.

An alternative is to go to a fabricator who is experienced in race exhausts such as Tony Law exhausts (Leeds), who will have a "pattern" exhaust for your engine.

Basically there will be 3 diameters for the exhaust, the primary , secondary then collector. The pipes gradually get bigger as they go from 4-2-1. Not only should you get the correct diameters, you also need to know what the correct length of each should be. Hence its good to go to someone who knows what they are doing rather than someone who "make an exhaust".

I bet the collector will be 2.25" for the Busa, but best to see what those clever Japs do and copy the best on the market. Its worth doing the research because a good exhaust can make 5-10hp difference on the dyno. I copied an Akrapovic exhaust on my ZX12 and it goes rather nicely...

Cheers

Paul
