May remove reverse box.. whats the prop shaft options???
I have a Quaif reverse box and a cushdrive prop on the rear. I'm seriously thinking of removing the box but want to keep a cushdrive so
wondering what my options are. ones I can think of may be..
1) Sell box and 2 piece props then buy one piece cushdrive.
2) One piece prop without cushdrive.
3) have a piece made to link engine to rear cushdrive prop.
4) Sell the bits and buy an MNR box to replace with (but £ are tight and would have to wait for a buyer with no car to drive ..) I'm really
not too fussed about having a reverse.
What's the implications advantages/disadvantages for performance and cost of each option and of course any other options I've not thought
of.
Does anyone have a suitable prop for sale.

What length prop do you need, I've got one I don't need any more and don't want a lot for it either.

Not sure right now. The floor pan is plated across the tunnel so not sure where to access or the correct way to measure it? Is it a TRT (cushdrive) ?
Is it a MK one or Bailey Morris.
P.S. Just looked at your archive and it looks like a lovely build you've done. Where's the finished pics?

I did exactly the same to my MNR some time back.
Never used the Quaiffe reverse so i sold it with the two piece prop for £650 and bought a new one from Dun and Fairbanks i think they are called in
Leeds which is the place MNR get them from.
He did me a really good deal and i collected it 2 days later from the guy's house as he lived near me.Very helpfull company.
If you ring them they will tell you what and how to measure it and mine came spot on with the cushtube fitted and centre bearing.
I seam to remember it been a bit fiddly to fit as the flanges on the ends didnt go through the tunnel supports but figured it out in the end.
My car seamed alot crisper without the reverse box, shifted more posotive and alot quieter.
I though it was worth it and i pocketed about £440 and sold the car later and made more proffit.

I'd buy a DF/BM/Whoever two-piece prop with TRT rear tube, maxing out on a credit card or two (or sell the wife's services - or wife - but
whatever).
Sell the reverse box and props to make up the bank balance.
I managed to sell two Westfield reverse gearboxes and prop sets last year, so they do sell. I went for a BM, centre Rover bearing, with a TRT rear.
It's lovely.
You don't need a reverse, unless you compete in Speed events in a road-going class, then you do.

DO NOT BUY A ONE PIECE PROP IT WILL EXPLODE....
I've seen the aftermath of this - not good, and the chap driving was very lucky.
Get a 2 piece with centre bearing as above.

If you go for the MNR 'box it is a straight swap for the Quaife unit.

Yes I know but just not sure if a reverse is worth spending £600 + fitting if I need some help. I was quite happy with my Ninja bec with no reverse.

If you are confident of your abilities then it's possible to do the required propshaft modifications yourself.
2" exhaust tubing is as cheap as chips and can be used for propshafts and there are plenty of companies who will sell you the necessary
components.
Probably less than £50 for parts.
Line up the firing squad.

Having built 2 MNR's one with reverse (quaife) and one without
the difference was a faster responsive car and a lot less noise.
sell the reverse
