R1 Stator wire colours (all white!)
I've having to swap to my spare engine which has had the stator plug cut off. All I'm left with is three white wires. The only way I can
trace them back it to take the magneto off which is generally a pain in the ar$e.
Are these three wires all white because it doesn't matter which is which? When I replaced my stator a while ago I compared and traced them back
and made sure they were the same.
If I don't have to do this I'd rather not.
I've attached the page from the service manual which refers to testing the resistance of them.
Any help appreciated!
Thanks.

I'm guessing it's a 3 phase alternator, in which case the polarity of the wires doesn't matter.

My Yamaha XS1100 has a 3 phase alternator and all the wires are white - it doesn't matter where they go.

Excellent. I was hoping this was the case as otherwise it's a stupid thing for yamaha to do!
Thanks for the replies guys.

Not stupid at all, they need to order and stock one colour of wire instead of 3.
Amd also quicker to assemble since wires don't need to be matched.
Kawasaki use yellow for these.
And ^^^^ say, it makes no difference which way round they are fitted.

What I meant it that it would be stupid to use one colour if it DID matter which wire went to which pin on the connector!
