ZZR 1100 engine install issues. Angle???

im currently putting the engine inplace in the chassis but im having issues with the angle etc.

i cant line the sprocket adaptor straight and inline with the DIF.

Im unsure what angle i can have the engine in at.

also if i put the gpz 900 r sump level at the same level of the Chassis rails at the bottom it pertruded above the bonnet level.

any one got any help for me?

had similar issues with my blade engine...

it is now sitting level but at about 5degs of angle to the tunnell, the sump is just below the chassis...will put some pics up later...

straight and inline isn't necessary. The important thing is that the face of the prop-adapter is approximately parallel to the face of the diff.

Your best bet is to search on here, as the prop angle thing has come up many times in the past.

These older engines are more upright than the modern ones which have their exhaust ports pointing into the ground. I had similar issues with a GSXR1100 in a phoenix. Modifying the sump might gain you an inch or more, I swapped the breather outlet (on top of the cam cover) for a shorter one off a bike from the same manufacturer which bought me 15mm.

Are you going to cut down the sump, have a bonnet bulge, or have the sump hang out below the bottom of the chassis. Different pluses and minuses of these approaches, which I am sure you appreciate.

ive changed the cump for the gpz900r sump which is about 40mm shorter which is ok for me.

ill have to put a bulge in the bonnet cos i cant have it hanging below the chassis too much.

as long as im ok to angle the engine then im happy.

i have laser lined it up so the centre of the sprocket adaptor is dead on inline with the diff centre.

thanks for ye help peoples.

ill get welding it up tonight :O)

thank god for sunshine.

Why do you want the engine output dead inline with the diff input? It's bad for the universal joints in the diff as all the wear is placed on one part of the pins. The only thing you need is to have the flanges as close to parallel as possible.
