VW polo or similar from the sounds.

Here's how I did mine :

pump inlet (near sprocket) goes to tee piece, one side to bottom of rad, one side to expansion bottle main port.

Head outlets go to thermostat, then to tee piece, one side from oil cooler outlet, one side to top of rad.

Bleed from top of 'stat is used to bleed the system while filling, then sealed with bolt and rubber washer.

Bleed from pump goes to expansion bottle small port.

I can post some pics if necesary.

The coolant pump bleed is the very small pipe next to the coolant pump inlet (near sprocket.

I had a threaded hole in my radiator that I could have used (I put fan temp switch in there in the end) but I used an inline adaptor to fit it into (see pictures, it features in both, shortly after the thermostat).

Where did you get the inline pickup from?

Merlin Motorsport, but I've seen them available from quite a few other places. No reason not to recomend Merlin though, good service, just watch their prices, they can be quite steep on a few things. I got all my Samco hosing from them at the same time which cost more than you would believe, but that's just the going rate, not any reflection of Merlin.

Just get a yamaha sender and plumb it into the cooling system (pre rad) then wire it up as per the bike.

After all its the clocks that control the fan.

You'd just need a inline adaptor to suit the thread on the R1 sender. If there's not a standard one available you'll need to get a suitable thread or adaptor machined - Think Auto is great for this sort of thing.

Also make sure you get a sender that matches your clocks as they are not all the same 98/99 uses 2 senders (fan control and temp). 00/01 has one sender (a combi sender).
