Rebuilding an R1

I have just stripped my "old and tired" 5VY using the Haynes manual.
Cripes, those Japs are clever, they have thing like stamped arrows and dots to make sure you put the engine back together correctly!
Things certainly have moved on since the old Chevy for my Cobra was designed!

However, does anyone know of something like a rebuild kit for the R1, or a company who could supply all the necessary gaskets and bearings which should be changed for a rebuild?

Fingers crossed!

Cheers

I bet your wife is asking whether you should have perhaps asked this question before you covered the kitchen table with pistons and valves!

You can get gasket sets for most bike. I guess you will need a little more than this though as taking things apart and putting them back together rarely fixes them. I don't know whether you can get oversized rings and crankshaft shells from sources other than Yamaha, for Suzuki stuff Debben seem to do most of it, not sure about Yamaha.
