Exhaust Cans..
From reading a different thread about the sensitivity of modern bike engines and aftermarket exhausts and airbox/filters.. with a BEC car would it be
recommended to fit a bike can or a typical kit car exhaust like this..

That is what's on mine, wondering if it'd be better off with a end can designed for an R1, is the sensitivity in terms of backpressure
I'm guessing?
Also... will it be much louder with a bike can on or not? I can't go any louder, I need to shut it up before I can get on trackdays as it is.
Same with filters, open sausage type or airbox best? I always thought airboxes would be restrictive unless you're going a decent speed to get
the ram air effect. Mine has the open type, felt better with an air feed and revs freely enough, but still something to think about.

You don't say whether its a Carb or Injection R1.
But on the subject of exhausts, untill the underseat, and cat exhausts it was very rare to find a can specifically for a particular bike, the cans
were universal straight through absorption types, with a link pipe and hanger specific to the bike. Later models, the cans are shaped to suit the
bike, but much the same free flowing inside, to fit them properly needs fueling alterations.
Regarding air boxes, most sportsbikes are designed to draw still, slightly pressurised air (at speed) from a large airbox, it is the forward facing
intakes which generate the slight pressure.
Personally I would stick with the airbox as close to factory volume as you can, but, if you go for a rolling road setup adjustments to jets or
fuelling, and ignition, can be made to make best use of your setup.
Also if the exhaust originally had an exup valve, that needs to be compensated for too.

Sorry it's injected (5PW). Main reason for asking is that both of those things on my BEC are the opposite of what it had from the factory. PX600
foam filter with feed and 5 or so inch universal silencer. It has been mapped accordingly (158hp) but still makes me wonder if it'd be better
with a bike exhaust on. Nothing I can do about the airbox, I've got no room under the bonnet. Also if the bike exhaust made it a bit quieter
it'd be a bonus as I'm struggling to shut it up at the moment.

If your existing can is an absorption type, i.e. straight through, with a perforated stainless inner wrapped in wadding, then that is much the same as
a bike race can, so an aftermarket bike can isn't going to make much difference in terms of noise, unless it is longer than yours is now.
You can cet some bike cans with removable baffles, the baffles make them road legal in terms of noise, so should also be ok for track days, the bike
track days I've done have just been on teh R1 with the straight through Remus can, and I've never been pulled for noise.

Exhaust and airbox are both "free" in RGB.
Copying what the front running R1's are using and you won't be far off.
