WTD : mobile mechanic or help in Glasgow area

I have a ZZR1200 BEC which has decided that it wont start.

It was driven into the garage with no problems a few months ago, but now isnt playing....

A new baby means I dont have the time to spend in the lockup that I would normally, and I would like to have it running so I can nip away for a few hours now and then through the summer

So I'm looking for someone who can spare a few hours to help, or who can recommend a mobile mechanic

Car is stored in Cumbernauld...

Any further insight into why it wont start? Starter turning? Fuel smell etc.

I could come and lend a hand if need be, all my tools are at home and not going down till next weekend, unless you have some tools, or i could come round and try and figure out the problem?

Im in livingston but wouldn't mind coming through.

Thanks guys - a bit more detail

As I said, has been SVA and driving for a year before any problems.

It'll turn over, but doesnt even catch

At first I thought it was fuel pump, since it isnt running when i turn the ignition
But, I have run an external supply to the pump, and it works fine

But still no supply to the pump during normal attempts to start. i.e. It doesnt prime.

I checked at the plugs, and Theres no spark either, from either coil.

All of which might suggest some overall problem- at first I was thinking kill switch , or some sensor which stops the whole thing working....

Ive checke and cleaned the earths, fuses are ok etc

Sounds like it could be an immobiliser issue if it's preventing spark and cutting the fuel, does it have an after market one or is it the standard bike one?

Cheers Mark

hmm , I dont think it has an immobiliser at all...

but its that kind of thing - kill switch, bike crash detection, sidestand switch.....

I did a little reading last night and found some people saying that its their Killswitch that acts up and needs replaced. Have you tried removing the switch altogether and replacing it with a wire?

Also how have you removed the side stand switch?

The kill switch doesn't let the engine turn over on bike engines, also the sidestand switch. If either is engaged nothing will happen when you press the starter so it sounds more like something on the ignition side. Make sure the battery is fully charged and put some new plugs in it before you do anything else.

yours, Pete

I went into the RSPCA office the other day. It was so small you could hardly swing a cat in there.

I know what you mean, but i think the starter is wired direct from the car switchgear - i.e it turns over anyway....

Hellfire had a similar problem after a slight layup we warmed the plugs up and gave her a bump since started with no problems, I wonder whether the injectors glaze over a little
