sick mk blade

Hi all need some help.Got 929 blade engined mk.Car was running perfectly last year i put it to bed for winter and when i went out for first spin this year it seems to have developed a miss fire.little bit lumpy on idle. Also on hard acceleration coughs and splutters and will not rev right up.

so far changed plugs, put fresh fuel in,cleaned carbs, checked for good spark, checked compressions, changed leads changed coil packs.still the same.

Only clue, which might be a red herring, is that when engine running at idle and you disconnect 2 3 4 spark caps makes noticable difference, when you disconnect no1 cap seems to make no difference.

Help needed so i can enjoy the weather.

thanks

marc

You say carbs, do you mean a 919, the last of the carbed blades? If so have you checked the jets, one of them could be partially blocked, had similiar problem at cadwell last year. Also Try replacing crank position sensor. Have you checked earthing, could be a bad earth - clean all earthing points and tighten. Have you checked voltage of battery and also charging voltage when running, battery could be on way out after the winter.

My vote would be for a problem on carb 1.

yep carbs i would say, also if storing for a long period the fuel will go off, so as per when you store a bike you should drain the carbs or start every now and then regular to keep it all moving,

good luck but check the idle jets,

cheers

Thanks for replies.Battery is not the best and now you mention it thinkk i read somewhere that if is low can produce missfire. Will charge up and see if makes any difference. If not will check earths and if still no good will strip no 1 carb, presumably disconnecting n01 cap should make difference so i know spark is good poss no fuel to no 1.I did disconnect cap on 1 run the engine then check for fuel on plug nothing evident. But did the same for n02 and nothing there either.Fuel pump ?

cheers

Does fuel pump stop after a few seconds when you just turn ignition, imeme is it reaching pressure? The contacts on the fuel pump get shitty and they don't work properly, just remove black cover at rear and clean point up with some emery.
