Fireblade engine position ?
Hi im after a few pointers in fitting a fireblade engine into a "7" style car.
Does anyone have any measurements for height and where abouts a good position is for the sprocket etc, all your input is apperciated.

id say fit it as low and as far to the left as you can get it mate to allow the prop to be as straight as poss..
had some nightmares with mine...

I have just done this (last weekend) to be honest I just put it where it sat nicely.
If you have a flat bottom sump (like the AB performance one I have) I created a false floor to sit it on so I could slide it around in the engine bay
and then aligned it how I wanted it. Basically the engine is in-line with the left side chassis rails with the outer most part of the engine about
1" inboard of the top tube. This lines the output flange up nicely and gives plenty of clearance. Once it was were I wanted it I started making
a cradle that I taked together with the engine in place.
It doesn't seem to be an exact science and all cars are different and have differing restrictions on engine position.
(Somebody will probably now inform me that this is all wrong though)
If yu look in my archive there are some pics of the engine placed in, I might have a better pic on my phone that I can upload later.
Edit to add the picture, its not great but you can see the piece of plywood clamped under the chassis to sit the sump on and then how I have aligned
the top of the head with the chassis rail with some clearance.
If you car is a Locost it will probably be easier than mine as the engine is tiny and the Locost engine bay has a lot less strengthening tubes than
mine.

You got an email address, off tomorrow will take some photos and measurements of the indy, will you be building the sides to locost sizes or the extra
inch of the indy.

try to get the output from the engine parallel to the diff face. Having it parallel to the outer chassis rail could give you problems. I learnt the
hard way.
some good sites, just do a google for propshaft alignment - e.g.

Well cut sone sections out of th car to get the engine in, need to fab up som sort of frame and put a brace in some where, but looks like it will be
ok.
