Gearbox Potentiometer

Been rooting around the BMW bike engine and see a Gearbox Pot on the back casing. I'm guessing it's for a gear position indicator???

If so, then how likely is it that an OE BMW pot would work with, say, a RaceTechnology Dash2?

Cheers!
