indy zx9r

What sort of performance would i expect to get out of a zx9r 03 engine in a mk indy. Been offered an engine at a resonable price and will probably order my mk next week choice is a 2.0 zetec or a bec. How much quicker would the zx be over the zetec??

I've got a zx9r c1 in my haynes. It feels realy quick to me (3.64 diff) but its the only seven I've been in so have nothing to compare it too. I have only been up to about 70 as it's not iva'd yet so cant comment at higher speeds.

I spent a lot of money on booze, birds and fast cars. The rest I just squandered.

Paul,

I have a zx9r engined Indy. Whilst I have heard about the issues with the gearbox, I thought the main culprit for this was the c engine (which I was I have ) and not the E - which I thought had a stonger box.

Saying that I have had my car for over 3 years, (with the supposedly weak gearbox) and it gets used and abused all year long (as those who I have been out for a blat with can testify) and touch wood has not let me down yet.

the next question is road or track - on the road there is very little in all the cars really - I regularily go out with a caterham superlight, and R300 and caterham with a tweaked cross flow and there is nothing really on the road between them. I have aslo been out in blat mode with haybusa cars, duratecs, ztecs the works and again, for the most part there is very little difference on public roads between them all - it all comes down to personal preference.

If you have not been out in a BEC then try and blag a passanger ride, it is a very different experience from a CEC. I took my mate out who has a R300 as a passenger in mine and his comments were that the acceleration was very similar, but the noise was a different scale. So I jumped in his and it felt very much more refined and quiter that I could believe.

Get out in a few engined cars of different types and see what floats your boat - that is the best way.

Cheers
Craig

Paul, I have just seen that you are in Newbury - I am relatively local, so if you want a run out in a zx9r engined car, let me know.
