Water temp sender
Joy of joys, tonight I go to replace the water temp sensor on the blade engine with the digidash dash sensor and what happens! the poxy thing snaps
off!!
Anyone else had this happen and if so any ideas for getting it out, at the moment there are two options that spring to mind.
1. Get a 1/8" NTPF Tap and tap into it removing the old sensor bit as it's brass and quite soft.
2. Get a stud removal kit and try to get it out that way.
Any ideas greatly appreciated!!
ta,
Rich.

I'd go for the stud removal option - brass may be soft, but it's unlikely to be as soft as ali, so tapping it out could make a real
mess.

Been there, done similar...
Is it on a part that you can take off the engine? If so, many decent engineering shops will have a spark eroder - the piece is put in a fluid bath
and an electrode slightly smaller than the core of the bolt is fed slowly forward, sparking away at the metal. Each spark carries a little bit of the
target metal away. Once the core has been removed the bits of thread can be picked out with a sharp point.
I've had this done when I've broken a tap in a valuable, nearly finished bit of metalwork - cost me a few Pounds each time.

Postscript! While writing this, I remembered what materials you're dealing with... if you can get the part under a DECENT pillar drill, drill
through the brass part making a hole just shy of the thread core diameter (you'll have to look it up). Use a very stubby drill bit so it stays
rigid. Again, you can then pick out the remaining threads with a scriber.
