HELP! What's my F27 track rod end off????

As title !!

I needed to replace m steering rack gaitor on the F27, ordered some gaitors months ago off a Mk2 escort. Just got around to fitting today, one of the track rod end rubbers is split, so thought I'll get another. Went to local euro car parts and picked up a mk2 escort track rod end. It does not fit. Thread is a lot finer on the said replacement. Would it def be escort? Could it be cortina? Wondering as they list a cortina as being different to escort/fiesta. Ordered one in to compare tomorrow. I can get a picture up if that's any help later on. Thanks all.

Are you sure it is Mk2? I seem to remember the Mk1's had a finer thread than the Mk2's. Or perhaps it was the other way round. Either way, I am pretty positive they are different.

Courtesy of Alan_Thomas on this thread:

"Mk1 has UNF threads for Track rod ends Mk2 has Metric.
I found it imposible to get UNF ends to fit Cortina upright tapers. Ended up junking the MK1 rack fitted Mk2 instead."

You need Escort Mk2(non RS) /Fiesta Mk1 & Mk2/Cortina 3 to 5/ Granada Mk1 & Mk2 QH Part Number QR1384S

Here is a list I made back in the old Yahoo group list

Track Rod Ends -- Cortina Mk3 to 5, Escort Mk2, Granada MK1 & 2

Ford Part Number 1476246

QH Part Number QR1384S

AP Part Number TA684

Moprod Part Number MTR1384

Firstline Part Number FTR4040

TRW Part Number 14ES0334

Unipar Part Number GSJ119

Sierra will also do the job but are different so I would only fit as a pair.

I did some checking they have probably been using the First Line parts data base which has errors for some older Fords

Correct Front Line part number is FTR 4040 M14x2 thread righthand

Well, good news! The one I got them to order in for a cortina fits! It's listed for Taurus/cortina/comsul/Granada. It's made by ocap part number 0280655. Thanks again for the replies.
