engine dimensions

Hi all, wanted to know the following dimensions, sprocket shaft end to the other side of any bike engine you might have. I am looking for the shortest (width I can find for my mid engine car. would sp1s and milles have narrower engine being 2 pistons? Any help would be great. and I wonder what is the shortest diff that can be used? Thinkinf of bolting straight onto diff.

why don't you look at one of the big vtwins ? like the honda fire storm or the tl 1000 from suzuki you won't get much narrower and they will give you nice grunty power
best wishes
Iain

twins, as you say, are narrower than most...

I've just measured 2 engines...

a ducati 748 is about 320mm wide

a vtr1000 firestorm is about 370mm wide

if you went for a firestorm you would need to get a really low diff ratio as the VTR engine has a relatively low rev limit, hence your top speed would be a lot lower

the TL1000 or Aprilia would be a better choice. I'm sure there will be others - it's too early for me to think of them though...

the shortest diff I have heard of is a 3.14...( freelander? )
