Have used a standard bike battery matching the requirements of the donor bike (12AH I think).
Benefits are light weight and cheap.
Since I went to EFI I had a few issues with variable voltage so changed to a PC680. Much heavier thought.

I just use a small bike battery, had no issues and it's been there for years.

I had a gel battery last year, my understanding is they can be positioned anyway/anywhere. Could be wrong though.
Wasnt any lighter than my wet battery but a damned sight more expensive and needs certain type of charger.
So long as you can keep 'wet' upright, its a far cheaper and equally good battery.

you dont neccesarally need the exact one from the donor, just get the right ah and terminal layout.
