1st drive today.....
Well, today was brands indy...and my first drive in the car.
It was wet in the morning and i only had slicks. The briefing made it very clear that the track was very greasy....3 sighting laps. I noticed the car
juddered on and off drive....but couldnt see why so carried on. 3 warm up laps then a nice spin at Graham hill bend that came from no where. I came in
and it started to drizzle so waited till just before lunch as it was drying out nicely by then
I managed 1 lap! the car wouldnt come out of 1st! In the pits i noticed the gear selector shaft was shagged and the gear change lever was spinning on
it so i went blizzard and done it is tight as i could......
After the break i was back out and the car was still shuddering but i could select the gears...3 laps then the car started to run rough and spit fire
from the exhaust and back firing...so i done what we all would do...i carried on....2 laps later i was black flagged!!!
The marshal said my car sounded like it had no exhaust. I checked and it was still there so either the wadding has fired out or theres another issue.
The carbs had partially dropped off...only on carbs 3 and 4 hence the rough running. I then noticed the chain was way way way too loose, hence the
juddering
All in all a poor effort from me in my preperation....only 2 days back i repacked the exhaust from sheets to loose wadding to see if was any
quieter...i should have stuck with my gut feeling. And the chain is a thing i always check on my bike but i didnt bother on the car..school boy
error
The loose stuff got me 98 db at about 7000 rpm , but a real good day as it gave me a taste of what the car could do, and a list of things to tinker
with over the winter. Bizzle popped in and said hello too which was nice.

A bit disappointing when a track day goes like that, at least its all things easily resolved

Good to meet you today, although I still cant remember your name. I am terrible with names though!
It was one of them greasy wet days that RWD car owners sit in the pits watching the FWD car drivers dry a line out for you. The amount of people that
span in the first hour was beyond a joke, no accidents but feel safe in the fact that you was not the only one that spent time facing the wrong way!
I had a good day today though. Did not beat my fastest time but was consistent. My little striker was a faultless rocket all day. Anyways, dont want
to hijack the post.
You have a really nice track toy there. It looks different to anything and once running and set up is going to be seriously quick. We will almost
deffinatly bump into each other again in the future, as long as you dont loose the heart.
You should put up a pic of your car as your avatar, its pretty recognisable.
Regards,
Biz.

I spun at Surtees and was told 1 more spin and it was day over..
Then I was told off for having A048R's..
I then got black flagged for having a slide out of druids.
I then got black flagged for excessive sliding.
Changed my clutch at lunch and as the track dried up the times got quicker.
Both GPS timers recording 55.442 seconds which wasn't too shabby .
Woot be doing another focused events day though...

What was you in Gaz Gaz?
I did a 56.082. I battled with traffic throughout the day but got some good runs near the end of the day. Around 56 seemed to be the faster cars of
the day. There was not much that got away from me.

I thought there were a few too many cars out there today, for such a small circuit.

Black and green mnr in the garage next door
I didn't think the track was overly busy but there was a lot of very slow cars buzzing round. Probably put off by the 2 spins and your out
briefing

He said I was drifting..
I said no just catching a slide.
He said no it looked like drifting.
I said no. But next time it slides I'll not bother catching it so you know I'm not drifting.
Also being warned after the 1st spin that it was day over if it happened again it really spoiled the day as I didn't want to push anywhere near
the limit..
