OMG!

Was the driver of the bike alright after he crashed into the back of that custom trailer?

I love this bit

quote:

The front suspension uses a single coil over shock housed in a cradle that gives infinate roll stiffness, so the body never pitches even under hard cornering. Only one other car is known to use this technology and that, is a purpose made racing car

Sounds good but looking at the picture at the bottom, this "technology" consists of a single damper mounted longitudinally and connected to a square steel tubular frame which pivots on its lower edge, and each wishbone has a pushrod which attaches to each top corner of the frame. This means the only time the shock does anything is if both wheels compress at the same time (ie when braking in a straight line). If you corner it just tries to twist the frame and the shock has no part to play at all, so the only thing damping the outer wheel when cornering is the flexing (or not) of the square frame on its mountings! God knows what it would be like on a bumpy road if the only option is either both wheels move, or none (or you bend the frame). Hmm

I like the red and white car (99) in the second picture Anyone knows what is it?

The 3 wheeler looks much like a bike attached to an upturned bathtub with wheels, strange.

Its a Renault Sport Spider, that one looks like one of the race cars (they used to do a series for them a few years ago). They look nice but arent hugely quick really, they had a 2L Clio Willaims engine in them so about 150bhp, and weigh about 900kgs in road trim so not monstrous performance, although the racers ran on slicks and sometimes had sequential boxes so are reasonably rapid.

Ah OK, so that's what it is, I knew the road Spider, actually I once saw one in Madrid, but I didn't know there was a race version of that.

When I saw it I thought that was a really cool car (and it really was back in the days, still is I think) but when I found about its performance I was a bit dissapointed. A bit like what happened when I first saw the new Smart coupe on the streets.

Cheers,

Alex
