iva emmisions
I have a 919 year 1996 fireblade bec that i wish to iva.
how do i stand with emmisions.........i.e do i need a cat?

Yes you do
I think the cut off date is August 1994 (early 893 only)

slight thread hijack here but till connected.
If a car was IVA'ed with an 893cc blade engine with no cat, if a 919 was fitted later would it need a cat to pass an MOT????

No.
Whatever it asses IVA at is what is required from then on, irrespective of what engine goes in later. The only exception is if it gets a Q plate when
at MOT it should be just a visible smoke test (even if it was full cat/bets test at IVA)
